About

I am horrible at writing these things...

I consider myself a specialist of the glorified snapshot. Nowhere near talented enough to be featured in the spotlight, or get more than a note or two, but eager enough to get around my unnaturally high level of shyness to share my snapshots with the world.

All photos on this blog are taken by me, using a variety of photographic tools, from high priced DSLR to Pin Hole cameras made from beer cans.

I have recently relocated to the Santa Cruz area, only deepening my insatiable love for the San Francisco area as I'm able to explore many new areas. When not shooting with a still camera, I can be found toting around a TV camera.

Some of my favourite photographers:
Robert Capa
Robert Doisneau
Henri Cartier-Bresson
Berenice Abbott

If you love the movie the way I do, you’ll recognize this as the place Kim Novak tries to kill herself in Hitchcock’s Vertigo.

Heading up to the city again today, shooting some footage for my editing class. If you’re in town and see a kid running around with brass coloured wings on his back, that’ll be my boy…

Another of those things I love about this city: you can climb a hill and there’s the top of the Golden Gate, so close you can almost touch it… spectacular.

So a week or so ago it was the Space Shuttle flying over the Golden Gate, today I got to see the Blue Angels do the same. Yeah, I kind of dig my new home.

Woke up at 5am to cruise into the city to catch this event. Expected I would need to get there early to secure a spot (You know SF, a million cars fighting over five parking spaces), but my chosen spot was nearly empty. Got a great spot on the pier south of Fort Point, and settled in for the show. About a quarter past ten, the shuttle appeared out of the haze in the south bay area. It skirted the coast, disappearing behind mountains before hooking a left at the Marin Headlands and making a parallel run of the Golden Gate. The plane then made a left and circled south of downtown, then another left and made it’s way up the bay, passing over Alcatraz, before making a second, this time perpendicular, run over the bridge. Then it was off to the NASA Ames Research Center before running down the coast to Monterey then off to LA.

Now, getting out of there was another story…

So I got a call back on a resume yesterday. They want me to come in for a face to face next week. So in preparation I took a trial run to the building where the interview is going to occur. That used up my day until 9am… so what next? A run across the Bay Bridge, with a short stop at Treasure Island. Then across the Golden Gate, on foot, followed by a stop at Baker Beach. Finally I drove up to Twin Peaks to survey my new land from on high.  Of course after my 15 mile hike yesterday, the 8 I put on today was not much help. A few day to relax, then on to the interview…
